Doing what we are passionate about

WG Studios was formed by two fellow craftsmen called William. Both not satisfied exclusively making the usual traditional style kitchens and furniture. They set out to design and create beautiful objects of fitted and freestanding furniture with un-compromised craftsmanship and material choices at its heart WG Studios has gained a reputation for making quality kitchens and furniture with a passion for timber and the craft.

Founders Will Green and William Greaves are both makers as well as designers. Thus, design informed through an intimate knowledge of making and materials is at the heart of the WG ethos. Our work has a heavy focus on the use of natural and textured materials. Such materials have a unique quality which when worked, convey something of the personality of the maker. As a result, each WG piece is not simply a homogeneous product but a truly unique piece of design, tailored to each individual client.

As a small company offering a bespoke service, WG clients receive a dedicated service from one or both of the Wills. We’ll be involved with your project at every stage, ensuring the quality and essence of the design endures from its conception, right through to the finishing touches.

If you have a project in mind, we’d be delighted to discuss its potential, so please get in touch.

I grew up amongst woodland and this has had a lasting impact on me, growing my  appreciation of trees and timber as a material to work with. My fascination with woodwork was instilled in me from a young age firstly by my father who enjoyed working with wood and could often be found in his shed working away on some project or job. Although an artist and not a woodworker he taught me that wood being a natural material is very much alive. Years later at WG Studios we still approach wood with a similar mindset. Responding to the natural and unique characteristics of each piece of timber is a large part of how we work as a company. Allowing timber to move and change as we work it and reacting accordingly is the craft and beauty of our discipline and its this level of care and attention we take into every project we are involved in at WG.

My love of trees and wood as a natural material developed from an early age. Growing up we had a gate at the back of our garden leading directly into a beautiful English woodland. From as early as I can remember my brother and I had free reign, always off building dens and tree houses in this wonderful natural habitat.
Leaving school I went on to study architecture alongside working at a timber framing company. After graduating I couldn’t bear to leave the practical side of making and interaction with materials behind me, for a life of architectural admin. I continued to work on a variety of incredible one-off timber projects before transitioning into cabinetmaking upon moving to London.
Eventually the desire to have more of a design impetus on the work I was creating became too strong. Will Green and I left a previous company we’d met working at and went on to found WG Studios. The two of us share a passion for the material we work with and draw on an intimate knowledge of it to design and fabricate the work we produce.
